WIRA!!

We had some great racing this weekend! I am very happy with the results as are the athletes!

The Varsity 8+ finished 3rd in their heat advancing into the Grand Final! Surprising a few teams! The Varsity 8+ finished in 6th place overall.

V8+ Looking good in the last 500

The Novice 8+ was just shy of making the grand final, finishing 4th in a tough heat. The brought it in the petite final, taking it by open water! Nice Job ladies!

Seattle Portland Duel

Great racing today! We got almost the whole team in a race! V8 was within 2 seconds of Portland. Really happy with their result! I thought they had a great race. The N8 got off to a bit of a rocky start, the girls raced hard, but weren't quite able to pull back from it. I thought the N4 had a great race. It was these girls first race of the season, they loved every minute of it. Racing certainly is what make all the hard training, and difficult workouts we do all year worth it! We've got a big week ahead of us. Getting ready for WIRAs, in Sacramento, California! GO HAWKS!!

The Novice 8 after taking Gold!

This week we prepare to take on the University of Portland in our first, and soon to be annual duel! We will race at home, the only home race we've got this year. We've got lots of work to do to prepare for Saturday, but we'll all be ready! Races start at 8:10 on Saturday if you can make it! I'd recommend standing on the Freemont Bridge, as the finish line is almost directly underneath it!
Hope to see you there!

GO HAWKS!

"Ellie Rolfe" Inaugural row!

We didn't get a chance to row the "Ellie Rolfe" on Saturday after the dedication. The wind was high, and we made the decision to just stay inside. So, This morning at practice the "Ellie" took her first strokes thought the water. The women were all very excited to get in to the boat. Here's a few pictures of this beautiful shells inaugural row!

Husky open and "Ellie Rolfe" Boat Dedication

Saturday was a busy day. The team started the day off racing at Husky Open, in some of the roughest conditions we had to row in all year. The race was shortened to 1500 meters, but it was still a big challenge. I thought the ladies handled themselves very well considering the rough conditions.See the official results by clicking on the link: Husky Open Results

Following the races we held the blessing and dedication of our new racing shell "Ellie Rolfe" Thanks  to all who came out to the ceremony, and an even bigger thank you to Stu and Lee Rolfe. Without their generosity, we would have this beautiful new racing shell. It is truly Beautiful ."Ellie Rolf"

Boat Dedication

Tomorrow's a big day! We take on the Huskies, Portland and Western at the Husky Open. If you can come out to watch I'd recommend either standing on the Montlake Bridge, or on the cut. The finish line is the west end of the cut. I think these races will be tougher than last weeks, but the women are ready!

After racing, we are holding a boat dedication honoring the Rolfe family. Stu and Lee Rolfe are the wonderful people who have helped to support our growing program by donating the 8+ that we picked up a few weeks ago. If all goes as planned (meaning the weather is decent enough to row) we will be taking the shell out for its inaugural row after the ceremony. Check out the links below to read more about the dedication! Picture to come!!
